Commerce

According to Webster’s and other dictionaries, commerce can be defined as:

  1. the buying and selling of goods, esp. when done on a large scale between cities, states, or countries; between different places or communities; trade
  2. Social intercourse; the dealings of one person or class in society with another; familiarity. Intellectual exchange or social interaction.

I love the concept of exchange, of reciprocity. It is a fundamental element of life itself. This theme has consumed volumes in humankind’s philosophical oeuvre. Often, however, business is looked upon (and, sadly, expressed) as a soulless mechanism for grabbing and accumulating advantage at the expense of society at large. This needn’t be so. In fact, it seems we are well into a renaissance of socially responsible enterprise.

Heart centered commerce; this is what excites me. It is my wish and aim to create more value for all concerned – myself included – in the process of that exchange.
